What DEWA89 does
DEWA89 is a technology education platform. Our remit is deliberately narrow: publish material that someone with no technical background can run themselves, and state its limits honestly.
We do not do the following, and that is intentional.
- We do not sell career fantasies. There are no guarantees of a salary, a job, or a timeline. Good material does not need that promise to be worth reading.
- We do not collect data about readers. There is no tracking on this site, so we hold no reader profile to analyse or sell.
- We do not copy other people's material. Where we refer to official documentation or another source, the link is included so you can check it, rather than the content being reproduced without credit.
How the material is written
Every item goes through four steps, and you are entitled to judge us on how consistently we follow them.
1. It starts from a real question
We do not begin with a feature list. We begin with what actually blocks people: an error message that makes no sense, a term nobody defined, or a step skipped because it was assumed to be obvious.
2. It is tested by running it
Steps are executed on a clean system before publication. If a step only works because something was already installed on the author's machine, the item is not finished.
3. Limits are named, not hidden
Each item states the version it was tested against, what changes on other versions, and which part fails most often. Material that claims to work forever on every version is usually material that was never tested.
4. It is revisited when things change
Technology changes without warning. We revisit material when something described genuinely changes — a new version, a menu that moved, a link that broke — and at least once a year. The review date sits on the page itself, not on a marketing page.
What that means in practice: if you find a step that no longer matches the version you are running, that is valuable information rather than an inconvenience. There is a contact address on the support page.
The words we use, and what they mean here
Many disagreements about "good material" are really disagreements about vocabulary. These are the terms as we use them, so nothing has to be inferred.
| Term | What it means on DEWA89 |
|---|---|
| Item | One topic that can be completed in a single sitting, with steps you can run immediately. |
| Course | A set of items in a deliberate order that builds one complete skill. |
| Path | A sequence of courses leading to one working ability, such as building a simple website. |
| Tool | A small utility that runs in your browser with no account and no installation. |
| Reviewed | A person re-opened the source and the material and confirmed they still agree. Not merely that a file was saved. |
These terms connect to larger concepts — technology education, digital literacy, computer programming and educational technology. Each has a technical meaning broader than everyday usage, and we try to use the same meaning the primary sources do.
Evidence rather than assertion
We are not asking to be taken on faith. Here is what you can check yourself.
- A change record. Every correction that alters the substance is recorded with a date rather than silently overwritten.
- Source links. A technical claim that can be checked always carries a link to official documentation, a standard, or an authority.
- A name, not only a logo. There is a named person who is accountable and reachable, in the panel below every page.
- Stated limits of responsibility. We set out what is not our job, so you do not wait for help that is not coming.
What we deliberately do not claim
This list matters precisely because it contains the claims that sites like ours normally make.
| What we do not claim | Why |
|---|---|
| That we are accredited | We are not. We do not issue diplomas and we do not present our material as equivalent to formal education. |
| That certificates are official | A certificate is only promised once it exists. If one is introduced, its requirements and limits go on the course page, not on an advertisement. |
| That our material guarantees a job | Nothing can guarantee that. All we can guarantee is that the material can be checked. |
| That we are the most complete or the best | That claim cannot be demonstrated by anyone, including us. |
| That we replace professional help | For a legal or medical question, or a security incident that has already happened, the relevant authority is the right place. |
Where to go next
If you came for the material, go to the catalogue. If you want to know how we handle data and complaints, that is on the support page. If you want to take part, the rules are on the community page.
About DEWA89, and who runs this site
DEWA89 is a technology education platform. The site you are reading is the brand's official home: where we explain who we are, what is available, how the community is run, and how to reach us.
We promise nothing we cannot demonstrate, and we publish nothing you cannot check. Where a page states a figure, a price or a commitment, that statement lives on the page itself — not only in an advertisement, and not only on a page that has since been deleted.
How this site is run
- No tracking. There are no cookies, no analytics, no advertising pixels and no third-party scripts on this site. We collect nothing about you while you read.
- Reading needs no account. Every page on this site can be read without registering. There is no visitor database and no form on these pages that gathers data. An account is only needed for features that store something of yours; the registration page will be linked from the navigation once registration is actually open.
- No affiliate links. No link on these educational pages pays us a commission. If that changes, the change is disclosed where the link appears.
What we do not claim
- We are not an accredited institution. We do not issue diplomas and we do not present our material as equivalent to formal education.
- We do not promise outcomes. Learning technology takes time, and no platform can guarantee a job or an income.
- We do not replace professional help. For a legal or medical question, or a security incident that has already happened to your account, the body that can act is the authority — not us.
